Do I need a consultation before an IV drip?

Yes. A doctor checks your health history before every drip to make sure it’s suitable. Some drips, such as iron, also need screening or recent blood results first.

Who gives the drip?

Your drip is chosen after a doctor-led assessment, then given by one of our doctors or qualified nurses, with monitoring throughout the infusion.

Are IV drips safe?

When given by a doctor or qualified nurse in a clinical setting, IV drips are generally safe. We screen every patient for kidney problems, allergies and medication interactions before treatment. You are monitored throughout the infusion.

Do I need blood tests before an IV drip?

For wellness drips, often not. For an iron infusion, yes, recent bloods are essential. If you have specific symptoms we will likely recommend bloods anyway, to make sure we are treating the right thing.

Why do I need a G6PD test before vitamin C?

Accepted Answer

G6PD is an enzyme that protects red blood cells. In people who are deficient, high-dose vitamin C can trigger haemolysis, the breakdown of red blood cells. Testing G6PD first is an essential safety step, and we do not provide high-dose vitamin C infusions without it.

How often can I have IV drips?

For wellness drips, every 2-4 weeks is typical. Medical drips like iron infusion are dosed differently and depend on your bloods. We will recommend the right frequency for you at your consultation.

Why is a NAD+ drip given slowly?

Accepted Answer

Given too quickly, NAD+ commonly causes warm flushing, chest tightness, nausea, abdominal discomfort and lightheadedness. These effects are uncomfortable rather than dangerous, and usually settle as soon as the rate is slowed. To keep you comfortable we run the infusion slowly and adjust the pace to how you feel, so it takes longer than a standard drip. Plan for a longer appointment.

Can I have an IV drip at home?

IV therapy can also be arranged at home, with the same clinical standards as a visit to the clinic. It depends on your medical assessment and where you live, so contact the clinic to check availability and fees for your area.
